The Applicable Exchange Rate varies in accordance with the type and time of the transaction and you may find it at the Account Centre. It´s the primary currency of your Itaú Global Wallet Card Account, which is the US Dollar.

You may also transact in other currencies (referred to as Unsupported Currencies). You can find the list of available Currency Wallets here.

These are currencies for which no Currency Wallet exists. Transactions can still be made with these currencies. However, additional fees will be applied. Unsupported Currency transactions settle in US Dollar.

How do I get my pin and change my pin?

When you activate your Itaú Global Wallet Card in the Account Centre, you’ll be prompted to choose a PIN.

If you forget your PIN, you’ll need to visit the Account Centre to set a new PIN. You can visit the Account Centre here.

You can always change your PIN. To do so, go to the “Cards” section in the Account Centre. Select your Physical or Digital Itaú Global Wallet Card. Then click “Change PIN” and choose your new PIN for that card.

What are Currency Wallets?

The 7 Supported Currency Wallets in the programme are:

  • Euro
  • US Dollar
  • Great British Pound
  • Japanese Yen
  • Swiss Franc
  • Canadian Dollar
  • Brazilian Real

Once your US Dollar (Home Currency) Wallet is loaded, you can convert your money into any of the other Supported Currencies.

To do this, go to the “Exchange” section of the Account Centre. You can then enter the amount you’d like to move from your Home Currency into another Supported Currency Wallet. After you enter the amount, click “Request Quote.” You’ll receive a real-time quote.

If you accept the quote, your money will be moved into your desired Currency Wallet. You can also spend in Unsupported Currencies.

You can still use your Itaú Global Wallet to transact in Unsupported Currencies! For example, if you are shopping in a country that uses Fijian Dollars, Itaú Global Wallet will automatically look to pull funds from your US Dollar Wallet, and then from any other active wallets, in the Drawdown Order you’ve specified.

This means you can count on your Itaú Global Wallet to allow you to access all of your funds, in any of your Currency Wallets, any time.

It’s easy to set the Drawdown Order for your Itaú Global Wallet in the Account Centre. Just log into the Itaú Global Wallet Account Centre, go to the “Wallets” section and click on “Prioritise”. Then you can change the automatic currency drawdown order. If you’re transacting in an Unsupported Currency, funds will always be drawn from your US Dollar Wallet first.
Please note: If you do not set a Drawdown Order, Itaú Global Wallet will use a default Drawdown Order

We recommend that you move your funds to the Currency Wallet in which you will be transacting to avoid paying additional conversion fees.

How do I use my Itaú Global Wallet to make purchases?

Dynamic currency conversion (DCC) allows cardholders to pay for a product or a service in a foreign country using the home currency of the card instead of the local currency. The service provider will do a currency conversion applying their own exchange rate and probably a fee. Therefore purchase or withdrawal could end up being more expensive.

To avoid a DCC is simple; when you are doing a purchase or withdrawing funds at an ATM and you are offered to be charged in your home currency just reject the offer. You may end up paying more for your purchase or withdrawal. Always choose to be charged in the local currency of the country you are in.

You need to add money onto your Itaú Global Wallet Account, before you can use the Card to make purchases or withdraw cash from an ATM.

Absolutely yes! You can use your Itaú Global Wallet to make purchases online. The safest way to do this is by creating a Virtual Global Wallet Card. Setting up a Virtual Card is simple. You can do it in the “Cards” section of the Account Centre. Whenever you’re not using a Virtual Global Wallet Card, you can simply block it for an added layer of protection.

You can use your Itaú Global Wallet to pay for subscriptions, in the same way you use your regular credit card.

However, please take into account that merchants may have restrictions on the use of international cards. Unfortunately Itaú Global Wallet cannot guarantee that your card will be accepted in all online subscriptions, as it is determined by the merchant.

How can I use my Itaú Global Wallet to get cash from an ATM?

We recommend you to always choose to be charged in the local currency of the country you are in. If you are withdrawing funds in a Brazilian ATM and it asks you if you want to be charged in the home currency of your card we recommend you to answer no, in order to avoid the ATM to do your currency conversion and charge you an extra fee for it.

Yes, your Itaú Global Wallet Card supports cash withdrawals in the local currency at more than 2 million ATMs worldwide that accept Mastercard prepaid cards. You will need to ensure that you have sufficient money available in your Itaú Global Wallet Account to cover the withdrawal amount plus any applicable ATM fees.

No, you can only withdraw the currencies that the ATM dispenses. The ATM will display the different currencies in which it can dispense cash. If the local currency of the ATM is in an Unsupported Currency, the funds you withdraw will be deducted from your US Dollar Currency Wallet.

You can learn about your ATM Limits in the Itaú Global Wallet Account Centre, which you can access here or via the Itaú Global Wallet Mobile App. Some ATM operators may impose lesser limits. The Itaú Global Wallet Limits are in place for your protection.

Read more about ATM withdrawal fees here. Some ATM operators may charge an additional fee for using their ATM which may or may not be disclosed when you make a withdrawal.
